The Klass B was the fourth level of ice hockey in the Soviet Union, below the Soviet Championship League, the Pervaya Liga, and the Vtoraya Liga. The league was first contested during the 1966-67 season.
History[]
The second and third tier Soviet leagues, the Pervaya Liga and Vtoraya Liga, were known as the Klass B at certain points during their operation. The name was held by the Pervaya Liga from 1950-1963 and the Vtoraya Liga from 1963-66 and in 1968-69.
The 1966-67 season marked the first that the Klass B was contested as the fourth-level Soviet league. The league was contested at level four until folding after the 1981-82 season.
