The 1938 German Ice Hockey Championship was the 22nd season of the German Ice Hockey Championship, the national championship of Germany. Eight teams participated in the championship, and SC Riessersee won the title.
The first round was staged from January 17-19, 1938, in Munich and Nuremberg. The final tournament was held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Each Gau could enter one team, however, the federation reserved the right to use its judgement and select other teams from stronger Gaus, if others did not have any teams sign up. Gau II/III and XIV each had two teams enter. The maximum number of teams in the championship was eight.
Gau I (East Prussia): Rastenburger SV
Gau II/III (Brandenburg): Berliner SC, SC Brandenburg Berlin
The game between Berlin and Fussen was stopped due to riots in the crowd with the score at 5:5. The 3000 spectators in attendance felt cheated as both teams used primarily their reserve players.
